Welcome
My name is Mattis Beckmannshagen and I am a post-doctoral researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). More specifically, I work for the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) and I am responsible for record linkage projects with the German Pension Insurance (SOEP-RV) and the Institute for Employment Research (SOEP-CMI-ADIAB). Before, I earned my PhD at Freie Universität Berlin where I was a member of the PhD program on "Public Economics and Inequality".
My research interests primarily lie in the field of labor economics with a focus on inequality and health. I particularly care about labor supply preferences, i.e. why people work as much as they do, and what consequences this might have. Further, I am interested in minimum wages, their implementation as well as their distributional and employment effects.
On the remainder of this website you can find an overview of my research, recent working papers, as well as contributions in more policy-oriented formats.
I am always happy to chat, so feel free to
contact me via mail (mbeckmannshagen[at]diw.de),
or follow me on Bluesky.
